SurfPlasma’s advanced sterilization platform—validated in microgravity eliminates pathogens without chemicals, heat, of water.
SurfPlasma’s Active Plasma Sterilizer (APS) was successfully tested in a NASA-funded zero-gravity flight, confirming its performance in space-like environments and advancing the system to TRL 7.
Now, we’re delivering this same breakthrough plasma engine to real-world applications through two form factors:
SurfPlasma solutions are engineered to serve the most demanding industries and environments, from spaceflight to frontline medical response.
Our proprietary system uses ambient air and a small power input to create an active plasma field that inactivates pathogens in seconds—without the need for chemicals, liquid agents, or heat.
A sealed, chamber-based housing system that integrates our plasma engine for enclosed sterilization. Ideal for workflows requiring contamination containment, cleanroom safety, or portable multi-use environments.
SurfPlasma’s commercial-grade device derived from APS technology. Designed for real-world deployment in labs, clinics, and mobile operations. CPPR makes our sterilization engine accessible for health, biotech, and defense use cases.
Cleanrooms must maintain strict sterility between personnel access, equipment changes, and material handling. Traditional chemical wipe-downs can leave residue and are time-consuming.
Legacy sterilization systems are too bulky, power-heavy, or consumable-reliant for device-level integration.
Contamination and dust can degrade server performance; traditional cleaning methods risk damaging sensitive components.
Cross-contamination between experiments or patient samples compromises accuracy.
Space missions require ultra-reliable, chemical-free sterilization in zero gravity.
Mobile medical units and clinics lack infrastructure for reliable sterilization.
Military and remote units need safe sterilization for sensitive gear in austere environments.
Driven by a passion to help build affordable, healthy living environments for society, SurfPlasma was founded by Dr. Subrata Roy—an American scientist of Indian origin. Growing up in India, he witnessed firsthand the urgent need for accessible, clean technologies, which continues to inspire his work today. A professor of aerospace engineering at the University of Florida, Dr. Roy leads the Applied Physics Research Group (APRG) and is a pioneer in plasma science, with over 40 patents and 200+ publications. He is a Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Royal Aeronautical Society. SurfPlasma, a University of Florida spinout, is revolutionizing sterilization through cutting-edge plasma physics.
Whether you’re building next-gen cleanrooms or spacecraft systems—or rethinking infection control—SurfPlasma invites you to collaborate.
